Great South Run 2016

Sunday 23rd October 2016 was a very emotional day for everyone who knew and loved Freddie. It would have been his 3rd Birthday which made it especially poignant for the 12 #teamfreddie runners who took part in this years Great South Run.

It was very emotional at the start line as the organisers played ‘Happy’ by Pharell Williams in memory of our little man but this spurred us all on to complete the course. In addition, one of our team members, Amy, had kindly bought some balloons which we released before we set off.

The weather was perfect for the 10 mile run and all the team members did Freddie proud and managed to get round in one piece. Each and every one of us blew a kiss to the Heaven’s as we crossed the line and a few tears were shed.

We also found out last week that Freddie’s Granddad. Steve, and his friend, Russ Cockburn, have been accepted to run the London Marathon in April 2017 with the funds raised going direct to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance who did so much to try and save Freddie following his accident. We will update you on Steve and Russ’ progress as the event get’s nearer. We are very excited to think that there will be 2 #teamfreddie runners in such a prestigious event in the Spring. Good luck with the training Steve and Russ!

Finally, a quick reminder that we have our next free paediatric first aid course in Rugby, Warwickshire on Saturday 29th October 2016. We still have some places left so please contact us to secure a place.
