What We’ve Achieved So Far

Since we set up Freddie’s Wish in early 2015, you have generously donated more than £50,000. We, therefore, thought it would be a good idea to update you on how these funds are being used.

To date, we have managed to do the following:

• Donated funds to Birmingham Children’s Hospital to help improve their bereavement support and to fund essential supplies
• I have been asked to be a Speaking Ambassador for Birmingham Children’s Hospital
• Donated funds to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. The Air Ambulance Service relies solely on donations to keep their fleet airborne
• Funded and organised four paediatric first aid courses. These initial courses were free for people to attend and, to date, we have given more than 100 people an introduction to paediatric first aid with the help of fully qualified trainers. There are more planned for this year so please keep an eye on the website and social media to find out the dates of these
• Funded bereavement support training for the teaching staff of 22 schools. This training is fully accredited and was delivered by Child Bereavement UK
• Facilitated the establishment of bereavement awareness e-learning training in 27 schools across Warwickshire. Again, this training is provided by Child Bereavement UK
• Been a support to those who have suffered the heartbreaking loss of a child
• Raised funds for A Child of Mine – a wonderful small charity who me and my family in the early days after the loss of Freddie
• Raised funds for Ronald McDonald House who provide a home from home environment for families of sick children in hospital.

I am also very proud to have received 3 awards in this time. These are:

• Birmingham Children’s Hospital – 100 Heroes 2015
• Pride of Rugby – 2016 Rugby’s Pride Award
• Pride of Coventry – 2016 Fundraiser of the Year

As you can imagine, losing Freddie has turned our lives upside down but the love and support of so many people has helped to create a wonderful legacy in his memory. So, we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your ongoing support.

2017 is going to be another big year for us with a number of events and initiatives to be confirmed over the coming weeks and months. We cannot wait to see what this year holds  as we continue to improve bereavement support and break the taboo.
